I just had to read the headline and puked a bit.
Everybody feeling a little queasy today. Something in the water?
Could be. If there are two politicians I would rather cut my ears off with a knife than hear speak, it is Biden and Kasich. god help us. I would rather listen to Hillary screech her idiocy.
I would rather listen to Hillary screech her idiocy.
Are you insane?
I’d sooner vote a Zuckerbeg/Chelsea ticket than for Kasich.
I’m with you and the big fucken chicken on that one.
Just as we will never hit peak derp, we will never sink to the political bottom.
I don’t know. Barron Trump strikes me as having a bit of Caligula in him.
To be fair, I think a horse would do a wonderful job as speaker of house especially compared to almost every Congresscritter.
The neighs have it.
I suddenly don’t feel so good.
Either Bernie or Biden could have beaten Trump in 2016. In 2020, I wouldn’t hold my breath for even a second for either of them. The moment Trump won, it changed everything about elections. If the Democrats want to win 2020, the better find someone with the same Charisma as Bill Clinton had in 1992.
I love the smell of assimilation to freedom and democracy in the morning.
You know who else passed a law giving them dictatorial powers?

If only Merkel is allowed to import a few million more from Islamic cultures, then true democracy will be realized.
4Chan /pol/ Posts Images from Macron’s Off-Shore Bank Account.
Now I like the guy.
not since he’s one of the main advisors responsible for the outrageous French taxes in the first place.
Tax haven for me and not for thee, suckas!
Well, I know ‘I don’t have an account in The Bahamas’ set my BS detector off so loudly it woke up the whole neighborhood. Especially considering the Caymans is the
stereotypical place for those accounts.
Actually a book I have on offshoring funds mentions the Bahamas a lot. It’s just really sad reading that, and realizing how much freedom we’ve lost since the 90s.
Don’t worry – the French media is being threatened with criminal charges if they cover this.
What’s really funny to me is just how much actual dirt on Hillary was never released. Strong suspicious we only saw the tip of the iceberg.
The only real dirt you get on the Clintons is released in front of congress, and then statements of how no prosecutor would take the case.
How is Huma sending classified info to ,weiner poster to under age girls, for printing not a crime? The FBI is a fucking joke.

that sounds accurate. maybe autism is a little far.
I’ve also heard Mundane Matt use that expression for 4chan re: tracking down Shia and the HWNDU flag and Gavin McInnes use it for the Antifa unmask mission too.
oh, don’t worry, Putin faked the whole wikileaks dump, I have it on good authority*

All three of these movements are mostly condemned for being anti-immigration, the rest of their policies are ignored, and somehow Putin loves them all and despises the entrenched establishment people who’ve been giving him basically whatever he wants for years.)
Macron is a piece of shit Euro trash statist. The only difference in him and the other leftist euro trash is that he lied about what he is.
Yeah, I couldn’t really see a point for UKIP running at all now that BREXIT won. I would have thought maybe flip parties to the Conservatives or something else. Staying as “UKIP” after BREXIT seems kinda irrelevant.
How many institutions go out of business once their reason for being is achieved?
I was on FaceDerp and so many of my acquaintances are accusing the GOP and Trump of wanting to kill people and shove granny off the cliff. I used to be dumb and try to show them why health care costs are so high and other stuff but all I got was a blank stare. Then after the blank stare they would parrot the line, ” The free market would not lower the price of health care, ” or “Health care is a right.”
At some point you have to realize that people don’t care about lowering the price of health care. What they really want is to use the government to force doctors and nurses to work at a certain price and be forced to provide a service on top of forcing others to pay for those services.
Honestly, who among us doesn’t hate old people and wish they’d just die already several times a day? Anyone who claims otherwise is just a fucking liar.
Most people don’t even consider this aspect of nationalized healthcare. They are fine with the notion of sticking it to corporations (pharmaceuticals), but wouldn’t even connect their idiotic policies with harming hospitals, doctors, and nurses.
It’s supposed to be concentrated benefits and diffused costs not “Let’s fuck over almost everybody and tell them to shut up and like it.”
Public choice theory unknown by these people?
And of course, the sort of highly intelligent and capable people who become doctors have NO CHOICE IN LIFE BUT TO BECOME DOCTORS and will become doctors NO MATTER HOW SHITTY THE JOB IS OR HOW BADLY IT PAYS.
“I was on FaceDerp”
Well, there was your first mistake.
Hahahaha. Indeed.
I have to stop going on. It’s just terrible.
Why not? They were able to successfully enslave most educators.
“Freedom is slavery”- Ministry of Truth
And they assume the doctors they successfully enslave will care about your health more than the educators they’ve enslaved care about their education.
They only oppose slavery insomuch as it leads to inequality of outcome, not because it’s fundamentally wrong. Enslaving people who make above the median income is ok.
ZARDOZ, like put some pants on, dude.
Why?

Has any of these type of pontificating people ever had a job where they were required to be measureably productive ?
As one who’s every position in life has required me to produce income for the organization I was involved with I detest such people.
Productivity is a tool that the white male patriarchy uses to oppress the disadvantaged.

What do you think it says about your movement when you:
a) Will not recognize like-minded persons as a part of your group if they are the wrong color. They call them ‘allies’ but make it clear that they are still on the outside.
b) Imply that those selfsame ‘allies’ are still racists and are guilty of constant aggressions against black Americans. At least that is what I distill from accusations of insufficient sensitivity.

I had to give up Facederp because my wife and grown-ass kids were on it. Ladies in their forties are hungry for the love, apparently. I had a conversation with a woman that i went to high-school with and everything went swimmingly until my daughter barged in and said “Stop trying to fuck him, bitch!” Anyways, that’s my facederp story.
Facebook is pretty cool tool to keep up with family members but at the same time, there is so much derp on the site. And also, it makes you lose respect for friends and acquaintances who you thought were rational people but instead morons who uses meaningless and shallow memes to show how informed they are in the realm of politics.
I liked it for awhile and then it became intrusive and a time-sink. Yes, I “like’ that, Oh heaven forfend, that’s terrible! It was cool to catch up with other oldies but we’re never going to be 18 again, are we?
FB is a wonderful place to observe the political leanings of a wide swath of average people. I teach at a university and was asked by a student about the founding of Israel and the appartheid allegations and shit in 60 person class. I froze up for a minute because Jesus Christ what a fucking minefield to tread through as someone who is untenured. Still waiting to hear from the diversity office on that one.
“Have you done your research? You haven’t? Well then, let me assign you a paper on the arguments pro and con about Israel being an apartheid state.”
The question was asked in an American Government class so it was pretty off topic. I just gave as vague an answer as possible. The old some argue this and some argue that.
Sounds about right. You said they complained anyway?
No they haven’t. I meant they could complain because they can complain about anything. All of this shit going on in my life basically makes me want to go to law school since law school has seemingly become a basic requirment when it comes to operating in the United States.

/returns to crying about Hekmaytar Gulbddin.
My employer is being sued in a civil case and I am a prime witness can the person sueing request my text messages, phone records, email records or internet history that is private as in I pay for it with my own money not my employer? My other employer has me handle sensitive info through my work email, which I have used to communicate with the other employer can this stuff all be requested? I did nothing wrong but I want to know how much of my personal life can be potentially violated by all this B.S. Essentially without going into details a customer was injured and is sueing for medical bills, emotional damage and all that B.S. I saw the injury happen so that is my involvement in the whole deal. My employer wants me to testify and all that jazz.
What really pisses me off about this whole thing is this was a fucking side job to supplement my teaching income and now it has turned into this legal clusterfuck that quite frankly I don’t get paid enough to deal with.
Ianal, but if either parties attorney can get a judge to agree it’s related to either the case or your testimony in the case, then I would think yes.
Short answer: You need a lawyer.
Seriously, that’s the only way I can think of for you to try and keep any information private.
And even a lawyer may give you bad news, as in “you’re going to lose.”
But if you don’t ask you’ll never know.
Assuming the cost of legal representation is worth it.
Maybe. Just remember your employer’s attorney works for your employer, not you.
Your own lawyer, not your employer’s lawyer. Sheesh.
Well I’m fucked I’m barely skating by financially as it is. This job is just a few dollars above minimium wage I only took it because I had my classes cut. I don’t suppose quitting would change anything? I’m not too worried but I have personal communications on facebook and through email. I literally fucking hate my life right now.
That sucks. There’s no sugarcoating it, if the other guys have lawyers and you don’t, you’re at a bit of a disadvantage.
Well I am not personally being sued… Its my employer. Is there a site or something where lawyers do pro bono work? Because there is no way I can afford an attorney.
There are such sites – I can’t evaluate them, but maybe Yelp does evaluations.
They *claim* that they can refer you to an attorney practicing in your state, but I can’t vouch for the quality or say what they’ll charge if anything.
The other thing is maybe some of the local law schools have legal clinics, but you may not be one of the flavor-of-the-month causes they take on free.
But what can they do? Say no? Then you’re no worse off.
Final brainstorm: Does your college have a law school? Do you know anyone there? Do you know anyone who knows anyone?
No, my college does not have a law school. My second cousins and my great uncle are attorneys in California not my state. My buddy/boss at work says this stuff although not routine and very stressful happens. My plan is just to tell the absolute truth it would be a shame if I had a bunch of lawyers going through my personal communications and my midget porn but its not life or death. I’m surprised there aren’t legal protections for employees personal lives. I clock in at work do my job and go home. I am not salaried with the employer that is being sued. I am salaried with my university. Maybe if it comes down to it they can help since my emails and stuff would involve sensitive info from the University. At this point I will wait to see what happens from what I understand a lot of this stuff gets thrown out or settled. In this case my company did nothing wrong it was 100% the fault of the customer. I can say that in good conscience.
I remember getting a call from a grocery store I worked at about a very large man who had slipped and fallen and was suing the store for it. They wanted to know if I saw anything. I hadn’t, probably because I wasn’t there at the time because it’s something I would have remembered if I was there.
Imagine if I *had* seen it – I could have ended up as a Key Witness, portrayed by one side as a courageous truth-teller and by the other side as a liar in the pocket of big business or the plaintiffs’ bar depending on whether what I saw benefited one side or the other.
Yes, its not exactly the case but its that kind of thing. But it is comparable. and I’m just a part time barely above minimium wage employee working just for the supplemental income caught within this scary bullshit. In my opinion its a straightforward case but this asshole is trying to make a buck.
If you have to appeal to the internet with legal questions you’re probably better off not doing so.
I don’t think you should be forced to submit your phone, but IANAL. maybe just anything from that boss to you?
Since your college is at risk of its information being exposed, you should probably talk to one of their counsel. Maybe they can advise, and you probably, for your own protection, should notify them anyway.
I literally sent one email from my universities account and it had nothing to do with the case involved. But yeah I get your point.
One email would be enough for them to go through your entire account
Australian student freed of hate speech charge but “smear of alleged racism” remains
I’m surprised he was acquitted, I thought the Australian Human Rights Comission was a kangaroo court.
Crikey, I see what you did there, mate. Have a beer.
Thanks, I do my best to lead my fellow Glibertarians Australia.
I see what you did there, and I approve.
From the standpoint of faithful Catholics, there’s a silver lining of the Pope straw-mans his opponents. You get to agree with His Holiness, “yes, the people who say those awful things are certainly wrong.” But when he goes on to say that people holding these views are everywhere and ruining the planet, there is room for disagreement on such a factual issue.
Like if the Pope says “we must care for the poor,” we can agree, but if he says “everyone except me and my fellow Peronists are against helping the poor,” that’s a factual claim not a faith ‘n morals claim, and we can respectfully dissent.
That being said, does anyone share these views which he imputes to libertarians?
“Finally, I cannot but speak of the serious risks associated with the invasion, at high levels of culture and education in both universities and in schools, of positions of libertarian individualism. A common feature of this fallacious paradigm is that it minimizes the common good, that is, “living well”, a “good life” in the community framework, and exalts the selfish ideal that deceptively proposes a “beautiful life”. If individualism affirms that it is only the individual who gives value to things and interpersonal relationships, and so it is only the individual who decides what is good and what is bad, then libertarianism, today in fashion, preaches that to establish freedom and individual responsibility, it is necessary to resort to the idea of “self-causation”. Thus libertarian individualism denies the validity of the common good because on the one hand it supposes that the very idea of “common” implies the constriction of at least some individuals, and the other that the notion of “good” deprives freedom of its essence.
“The radicalization of individualism in libertarian and therefore anti-social terms leads to the conclusion that everyone has the “right” to expand as far as his power allows, even at the expense of the exclusion and marginalization of the most vulnerable majority. Bonds would have to be cut inasmuch as they would limit freedom. By mistakenly matching the concept of “bond” to that of “constraint”, one ends up confusing what may condition freedom – the constraints – with the essence of created freedom, that is, bonds or relations, family and interpersonal, with the excluded and marginalized, with the common good, and finally with God.”
If you could minimize the snarling and drooling, could you say if you actually hold these views – if not, then his straw-manning can wash over you like water off a duck’s back.
Not only do Istrongly disagree with the Pope, I’d like to see someone throw him out of a helicopter.
There’s some of that snarling and drooling I was worried about.
“Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope, do ya think he’s a fool?”
I’ll try to put my response a little more diplomatically. What the pope has just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in his rambling, incoherent response was he even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having read it. I award the pope no points, and may God have mercy on his soul.
Zombie JPII needs to shove his regula into commie pope’s backside.
That’s ferula.
As a catholic that’s an interesting perspective, I just tend to try to ignore whatever he is saying, and try to remember Pope John Paul II.
That’s no way to run a church, though. Turn him into white smoke and try again.
Well, this was a bad idea, so let me keep going.
Specifically,
Does anybody here “affirm[] that it is only the individual who gives value to things and interpersonal relationships, and so it is only the individual who decides what is good and what is bad”?
Does anyone here “preach[] that to establish freedom and individual responsibility, it is necessary to resort to the idea of “self-causation”?
Does anyone here “den[y] the validity of the common good because on the one hand it supposes that the very idea of “common” implies the constriction of at least some individuals, and the other that the notion of “good” deprives freedom of its essence.”
Does anyone here reach the “conclusion that everyone has the “right” to expand as far as his power allows, even at the expense of the exclusion and marginalization of the most vulnerable majority.”
Does anyone here “match[] the concept of “bond” to that of “constraint””?
I’m going to need more vino to pick apart commie pope’s argle bargle. Answering those questions is walking down the road to accepting commie pope’s premise.
I myself don’t believe any of the things he listed, and for one I don’t think, say, Hayek believed it either, or the Pauls (father and son), etc.
So I for one can safely say, “indeed, Your Holiness, I reject those horrible ideas. Who do you have in mind who *does* hold such views?”
I’m going to say ‘no,’ with the qualification that I don’t know what he thinks “self causation” is.
The problem is the pope’s argument doesn’t even rise to the level of wrong. It’s such incoherent word salad of unexamined premises, context-dropping, utter nonsense and trite cliches that it doesn’t even rise to the level of something that can be directly addressed as an argument. But, in response to your questions:
1. Only the individual can have the ability to judge the value of a thing or decide what is good or bad. That’s almost tautological from the fact that only an individual can have consciousness. That’s why only an individual can be saved or damned. The individual can judge rightly or wrongly. And that’s a matter between him and God Almighty. But, the collective community doesn’t have a mind.
2. What the hell does “self-causation” even mean here? Is he suggesting that you can have freedom or individual responsibility outside of free will or the agency that responsibility rests upon?
3. I read this word jumble over five times and it still makes no more sense to me than the first time I read it. There can only be good for individuals. People can have a community of interests, but good or bad to those interests are still those of the individuals’ interests. If the pope is arguing that the interests of some may be sacrificed to the interests of others in the name of “common good”, then I’d suggest his view is that Christ’s death and resurrection was in vain.
4. I’d suggest that the only legitimate constraint on the right of anyone to expand is the rights of others. Absent that context, it’s impossible to make any evaluation of his statement whatsoever. I very much doubt the Good Lord wants us to constrain our gifts or achievements because others lack the same ability.
5. Yes, they are the same. And either is legitimate when entered into voluntarily. As a libertarian, my objection is to the imposition of bonds on individuals against their will.
Really, the pope’s comments here seem like the kind of ridiculous nonsense I’d see from a pretentious, third-rate liberal arts major.
What do you expect out of a Papist? 😉
TBH, this latest pope is the best, because I get to rib my catholic buddy about his commie pope all the time and he gets to twist into pretzels to defend him. It makes me laugh.
I’m not defending the Pope’s straw-manning of people’s positions.
Nor am I defending what is obviously his personal Peronism or his hankering to let adulterers take Communion.
In dealing with a bad Pope – which is the situation we’ve got here – the question is whether he’s trying to let his badness affect the teachings of the Church.
The quotes I gave show that he’s straw-manning, denouncing propositions which contradict Catholic teaching, then smearing people who probably don’t hold those views.
In contrast, the previous Pope was much more scrupulous in correctly stating the other guy’s position before refuting it.
I think it’s worse that than that. He’s not just attacking his opponents. He’s attacking long standing doctrine such as free will in that rambling mess.
How on earth is he doing that?
Seriously, it’s like Trump – anyone who doesn’t totally hate him is supposed to be a full-on supporter.
Denouncing individualism with smears of “self-causation” as the root of that, along with deciding what is good or bad, and his upside down view of freedom which runs alongside free will.
I’m not seeing it, sorry.
Yeah, I think a lot of the same criticism applies to my much more rambling response.
The last pope seemed much more serious and put together. This pope always struck me as the powers-that-be throwing a political bone to Latin America. Considering European demographic changes over the last generation, I imagine LA and Africa will continue to become more important to the Catholic church.
In contrast, the previous Pope was much more scrupulous in correctly stating the other guy’s position before refuting it.
Even when I didn’t agree with Benedict, his premises were always clearly defined and the logic from his premises to his conclusions was almost always irrefutable.
